The year 2007 is the 400th anniversary of the first permanent English settlement in America at Jamestown, Virginia and during this next year, Virginia will be hosting the national and international events and gatherings, in commemoration of this historic event. This is an exciting and wonderful time of celebrating the founding of our nation.
However, the establishment of this settlement brought with it a heritage of the perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the spirit of greed, murder, dominance, promotion of self-interest, and broken covenants that have rooted themselves in the foundation of this nation. We want to be so passionate for this land that we are longing to see God’s true and redemptive purposes being fulfilled. As in the days of Nehemiah, we have a unique opportunity to which we should rise. As the nation is celebrating the birth of what is today’s USA, this is the hour of opportunity that we have looked for, in ministry to this land. Let’s join with God’s heart to re-establish His authority, the standard of His word and His ways in this nation. Let us not allow this time to pass without earnestly seeking the necessity of His presence in our land. His presence ought to bring a deep restoration that will move this nation further into her God given destiny.
2007 is a landmark, a crossroad, that will determine which way the nation will go!!!!!!! We can shape that future and see that new pages of this land’s history are being written the way God wants.
The YWAM-VA base in Richmond, Virginia, in collaboration with others in the Body of Christ, will be facilitating outreach teams for the entire year of 2007 in the spirit and attitude of intercession, service, repentance, reconciliation and humility to God, and to Native and African Americans, as well, whose heart is to live out these principles of our Lord. We are strongly asking you to consider sending your schools and outreach teams to Virginia and Washington, DC, starting in January, as a contribution to what God wants to do for this nation. Come participate for two weeks, one month or however long God might lead you, to serve in the location and with the church or organization He is directing you to assist. We will be available to facilitate connections with churches or organizations if you need us to do so. Would you consider what your participation should be?
